The cutting process is divided into two actions: the initial cut of the insulating sheath at the front and the final cut of the conductor at the back. It can cut cables up to twenty-five thirty-seconds of an inch in diameter with one hand operation.

Key features include a favorable lever ratio and optimized cutting edge geometry that reduces the effort needed for cutting. Additionally, a pinch guard is installed to prevent finger pinching.
